A Winter Solstice Seeds of Light Meditation

Winter Solstice, Dec. 21, 2008 at 7:04 AM EST is the official beginning of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere.  This date marks the longest night of the year, when the power of the sun is at it’s lowest point.  The word solstice derives from Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still).  Winter Solstice means the Sun is standing still in Winter.  It is a wonderful time to meditate on the powerful rich mysterious dark feminine energies within, and consider what you would like to symbolically seed, nurture and manifest in 2009.

For this Seeds of Light Meditation you will need 3 candles and matches.  Find a time and space where you will not be interrupted.
Sit quietly, surround yourself with love and light, and feel your body relaxing, sinking down into the earth.  From this grounded place, open to your connection to the spirit that is always within and around you.

Affirm out loud,
” I am the sacred garden for the seeds of my future manifestations.”

•  The first Seed of Light is what you would like to bring forth in yourself.
(examples: patience, discipline, acceptance, balance etc. )

•   The second Seed of Light is what you desire to bring into the love relationships in your life.
(examples: generosity, appreciation, loving attention, passion etc. )

•   The third Seed of Light is what you wish for the world.
(examples:  peace, communication, compassion etc. )

As you light each candle state your intention into the candle flame.
” As I light this flame, I seed_______  for my self”
” As I light this flame, I seed _______ for my relationships”.
” As I light this flame, I seed _______ for the world”

Close your eyes and take each of the symbolic Seeds of Light flames into your heart.  Allow the passion of your heart and the Seeds of Light to become one glowing light within you. As you sit in the silence ask your Guides and Angels for guidance and assistance in nurturing this light.  Take time to feel, see and know this light within you, listen intuitively and breathe deeply.

When the meditation feels complete, thank your guides, gently open your eyes and snuff out the candles.  You may repeat this meditation to hold the focus of these Seeds growing within you. Please know that what you focus on in life you will receive.

From Winter Solstice onward, the sun experiences a ” rebirth.”  Each day will see more and more sunlight until Summer Solstice when Solar influence will be at it’s peak. At that time you will be celebrating what has blossomed from these Seeds of Light that you have planted and nurtured on this darkest night.
