Waves and Whispers:Full Moon in Libra

By Chris · Comments (0)
Sunday, April 17th, 2011

During the previous Dark Moon you aligned your energy with your desire and you initiated the wave of attracting your desired outcome.  Two weeks later, at this Full Moon you have the opportunity to see more clearly and assess where you are in the Wave process. You may have achieved your goal and if so congratulations on a fast and powerful manifestation. If you are not yet complete then use the clarity of all this Lunar Light to sense and feel where the tidal pull of your creative wave is now. There are different rhythms of energy within a waveform and It may take many moon cycles of dancing with these rhythms to successfully complete your goal.  Here are some questions to ask tonight in the Moon’s light that will assist you in aligning with these energies:  Do you need to take a more active committed stance? Are your active and receptive energies in balance?  Now that you have more information, do you need to redefine your desired goal?  Do you recognize any resistance or limiting beliefs that need to be released around fully achieving your desires?  The time following the Full Moon is the perfect time for letting go of things. Do you need to take time to accept exactly where you are and celebrate that? Change does happen faster in Joy!  In the Lunar waveform process, stay grounded and keep your mind and heart open.  Continue to watch the waning Moon in the night skies and keep in mind we are in the Mercury Retrograde review process until April 23.  Next New Moon is May 3 in Taurus.  Please visit my previous Blogs for Moon and Mercury Retrograde info

Waves and Whispers of the New Moon in Aries

By Chris · Comments (0)
Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

The New Moon/Dark Moon is the time to plant the seeds of your future in the Cosmic Soil-less Garden of your Consciousness.

Each Dark Moon is symbolic of the beginning cycle of any creative process.  Since Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, this Dark Moon is an exceptional opportunity for new beginnings.

To connect with the creative power of this Dark Moon, take time today to sense, feel, and know the whispers of what your heart desires.  Become clear on what it is that you want more of . “Energy flows where attention goes” so be clear.

Consider your new beginning as a wave of energy.  The beginning rhythm of any wave is Flow.  Flow is the feminine energy of reception and connection.  As you align your energy with your desire, you begin to go with the flow of  the vibration of it.   “ Like attracts Like”, and you have now engaged the Law of Attraction. You have initiated the attraction of your desired outcome into your life.  Take time each day to feel the tidal pull of your creative wave.  More clarity as to the right action to take will come.   Stay in the energy of excitement and expectancy, and you will notice a gradual building of momentum.  To stay even more connected, watch the night skies for the delicate crescent of silver Lunar light growing to fullness.

The Sufi Mystic Rumi says:

“A new moon teaches gradualness and deliberation, and how one gives birth to oneself slowly. Patience with small details makes perfect a large work, like the universe”.

A Pro-Active Mercury Retrograde

By Chris · Comments (0)
Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

We all experience Mercury Retrogrades at least 3 times a year, every year of our life.  The first Mercury Retrograde of 2011 begins  3/30/11 (1:48 pm PST) ends 4/23/11 (3:04am PST)and is happening in the sign of Aries.

Astrologically, Mercury’s placement in our Natal chart is the indictor of how we will process and communicate our thoughts, the speed and rhythm of our minds and speech, how we listen, focus, remember, mentally highlight and organize all information.

The Global focus of this Mercury Retrograding in the sign of Aries is “look before you leap”, “think before you speak”.  Watch making impulsive decisions.  Respond rather that react.  In these next 3 weeks focus on the words that start with the prefix “re”.  review, repeat, reflect, reject, recognize, refinance, recall, reconsider, revisit and redo.

Simple suggestions for a Pro-Active Mercury Retrograde:

  • Plan a little more time for everything
  • Take time for clarity in all communications
  • Make time for physical exercise, dance or power walks as all movement quiets the mind
  • Use your Prayer beads/Mala beads for reflective spiritual time
  • Practice patience and flexibility as you may have to readjust your schedule
  • Appreciate the “pauses” that may happen. Any pause provides us an opportunity to re-cognize a repetitive pattern, release and revise it
  • Revisit people, places and things you know you will enjoy
  • Rest

Imbolc – February 1, 2011

By Chris · Comments (0)
Monday, January 31st, 2011

On the journey through the Celtic Wheel there are 8 destinations……each an opportunity to pause, align with the earth, and move with the flow of Nature. There are 4 Solar celebrations of the solstices and equinoxes, and 4 Celtic Cross Quarter festivals that relate to the 4 growth cycles of sprouting, growing, fruiting and resting.

At this time,  we are directly in-between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, the cycle of sprouting and the festival of Imbolc.

Imbolc ~ Goddess Brigit ~ St. Brigid ~ Candlemas

Imbolc
Imbolc is an old Gaelic word meaning “surrounding the belly” and refers to the lactation of livestock, in preparing to birth the new babies in Spring.  These signs of new life meant the darkest part of the year was over and was great cause for celebration.

Goddess Brigit
Another name for Imbolc is “Eve of the Festival of Brighid” as this time was sacred to Brigit, the Triple Fire Goddess.  The ancient origins of the Goddess Brigit began in Europe, when the Gaelic people worshiped Goddesses rather than Gods, and when knowledge of healing, agriculture and inspiration was the responsibility of the women rather than men. Each of  Brigit’s 3 fires have different areas of responsibility.

Brigit, Fire of the Hearth, was Goddess of fertility, childbirth, healing, and intuition.
Brigit, Fire of Inspiration, was the muse of poetry, song history and protector of all cultural learning.
Brigit, Fire of the Forge, was patroness of crafts especially weaving and metal-smiting.

The ancient Celts saw Brigit’s 3 Fires as one and the same, and vital to their well-being.
The legend is that on the Eve of Imbolc, the Old Woman of Winter, the Cailleach, journeys to a magical isle to visit the sacred well.   At the first glimmer of dawn, she drinks the water that bubbles from a crevice in a rock, and is transformed into the Goddess Brigit, whose white wand turns the bare earth green again. This transformation is beginning to happen within each of us, as we experience the shift from an inner contemplative focus to an outer focus of conscious manifestation.

St Brigid
The Goddess Brigit  was so greatly beloved in Ireland that when Christianity became the accepted faith, the Goddess Brigit was transformed into Saint Brigid.  Many of the ancient legends of Brigit the Triple Goddess were soon to become the deeds and miracles of Saint Brigid.

Candlemas
Another name associated with the Imbolc festival is Candlemas.  The Roman Church often adopted the dates of the ancient Celtic festivals and invested them with Christian meanings to encourage conversions to their religion.  The Church changed the name “Imbolc” to “The Feast of the Purification of the Virgin” or “Candlemas Day” to be celebrated on February 2.

Candlemas was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and celebrated her return to the Temple, 40 days after the birth of Jesus.  This day was celebrated in the churches by removing the old wax and candles and replacing them with new ones.  These new candles would be blessed and used in candlelight processions.

Groundhog day
Imbolc is also traditionally a time of weather omens and predictions.  The old Gaelic custom was to watch to see if serpents or badgers came out from their winter dens. This practice was the forerunner to the Groundhog Day custom on February 2.

Imbolc Affirmation of the Light Within

On this day of Light and Inspiration, we honor the Divine Light that we are with an Affirmation to activate the Light of Imbolc within you.

Saint Germain says:
“When an individual sincerely uses affirmation, he brings about a full acceptance of the Truth of whatever he affirms; for its use is but to focus the attention of the outer mind so steadily upon the Truth that he accepts it fully in his feelings – because feeling is the actual God Energy released which manifests the Truth affirmed.”

Begin by surrounding yourself with Light.  Settle in and feel deep within to the center of your Being.  Sense the flame of Divine Light within you.  Bring breath to this flame and feel it’s radiance expand and fill every cell of your being.  Affirm out loud:

“I am Light.
I am protected and informed by the Light.
I am expressing  Light which ignites the Light in others.
I am at one with All Light”.
Take a moment to feel your expansive radiance, and then in closing, say out loud:
“In Sacred Light,…. (speak your full name here) “

The 4 Celtic Festivals

By Chris · Comments (0)
Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

On the journey through the Celtic Wheel there are 8 destinations……each an opportunity to pause, align with the earth, and move with the flow of Nature.
There are 4 solar celebrations of the solstices and equinoxes and 4 Celtic festivals that relate to the 4 growth cycles of sprouting, growing, fruiting and resting.

To establish where we are at this time on the Celtic Wheel,  I want to use the image of a circular clock and all the numbers around the face. The numbers 12  and 6 are the points of the Winter and Summer Solstices.  The numbers 3 and 9 are the points of the Spring and Fall Equinoxes. These are the 4 solar celebrations honoring the movement of the Sun

Directly in between those 4 solar celebrations there are the 4 Celtic festivals.  Each of these festivals is a gateway for one of the 4 Seasons and are more in tune with the Lunar cycles, the movement of the Stars and the agricultural year.

So at this time,  we are at the point exactly between the numbers 10 and 11  on the face of the clock. We are directly in-between Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice. The festival of Samhain.

Celtic Festival of Samhain

The festival of Samhain ( pronounced ‘sow’inn’) celebrated on the eve of Oct 31, marks the Celtic New Year and the beginning of Winter, the dark half of the year.
It was the most celebrated of the 4 Celtic festivals. The ancients gathered together for tribal assemblies, feasting and games and also to settle debts and disputes.  The Old Ones believed the gates to the Otherworld were thrown open and the Spirits of the Ancestors and the Faery mingled with the living.  Samhain offerings were made at lakes, wells, tunnels and entrances to the Sidhe ( Faery) mounds.  The modern festivals of Hallowe’en and All Saints Eve both have their origins in this Celtic festival.

Samhain is still a supernatural time. The energy veils that separate the different dimensions continue to thin and and the portals to the different frequencies are more accessible. The Spirits of our Ancestors and the Faeries still move among us and communicate their knowledge and ancient wisdom.  The following meditation will guide you into this communication.

Samhain Meditation

To begin, invite one of your Ancestors that has been a source of strength and inspiration for you to a special Samhain evening meditation. Just as you would set up a date with a friend, create a sacred, quiet space for this meeting and respectfully hold to a specific time for connecting with their Spirit.  A picture, a personal item of theirs or a gift they have given you may enhance your connection.  At the set time, making sure you will not be interrupted, center yourself in a comfortable position, close your eyes and bring awareness to your breathing. Find a relaxed balanced rhythm of inhale and exhale and say out loud, “The Light of the Divine surrounds me, the Love of the Divine enfolds me, the Strength of the Divine protects me”.

When you are fully present, picture your ancestor coming through a gateway of Light to join you.  From your heart and soul, radiate Light and Love to your Ancestor and feel it returning back to you, continually moving in an infinity pattern (∞) called a Lemniscate.  When you feel this connection is strong, begin a dialog of gratitude for this Ancestor in your life. Respectfully acknowledge their contributions and the joyful moments you shared together. Then sit quietly and allow yourself to receive any communication coming from them through that infinity pattern of Love and Light.  Remember to be open and trust your experience. Their communication may not come in words but possibly in sensations, feelings, images, sounds, smells etc.
As you close your meditation with gratitude, picture the Lemniscate separating into 2 individual circles of Love and Light that surround each of you.  Bid your Ancestor farewell as they leave though the gateway of Light which closes behind them.  Sitting in your circle of Light and Love feel the blessings of this meeting and allow time for integration and transition.

Welcome to the Winter Solstice Issue

By Chris · Comments (0)
Friday, December 18th, 2009

The framework and timing of this series of 8 newsletters, is based on the 4 Celtic seasonal celebrations ( Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh), 4 solar events (Winter Solstice, Summer Solstice, Spring Equinox, Fall Equinox) and coinciding Astrological activity.  The Ancient wisdom of the Celtic calendar reminds us to honor and observe the rhythms, insights, and opportunities each season offers.

Celtic Festival of Winter Solstice:

The Essence of Power is Stillness

Winter Solstice, December 21, is a time of quiet power.  The word solstice derives from Latin sol (Sun) and sistere (to stand still).  As we honor and observe this season we are given the opportunity to be still, embrace the creative darkness, and allow our body, heart, and mind deep rest.  Celtic tradition holds life as cyclical rather than linear.  This is represented in Celtic art by the spiral.  The symbol of the spiral shows us the pattern of moving inward, going to the still-point of center (our Sacred Mystical Core), then turning outward, and bringing our Light out into the world.  When we honor this time of the longest night we remember that out of darkness, Light is re-born.  This truth can sustain us through difficult times in our life.

Meditation:

A Winter Solstice Spiral Journey

Settle into a comfortable position and close your eyes. Create a transition into Sacred Space by breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.  Allow your body to relax more deeply with each breath.  Feel the support of the Earth beneath you.

Visualize a large ancient stone archway engraved with spirals.  Feel yourself pass through this magical opening into a beautiful, quiet Winter Solstice night.  Breathe deeply and open fully to your connection with Spirit.  Notice there is a glowing spiral path on the ground before you.  Follow this path that gradually guides you into the heart of the spiral.  Once you reach the Sacred Mystical Core, the shimmering path disappears. Stand still and feel into the quiet power of the rich, creative darkness within you and around you. Rest in this precious emptiness.

Feel and visualize a peaceful Light growing in the darkness.  Allow this loving radiance to fill you. Experience your heart being ignited by the Sacred Solstice Light. See yourself as completely luminous with the Light expanding and radiating all around you. You are the embodiment of Winter Solstice and you are the Light reborn.  Rest in this expansive radiance.

When you are ready to return, notice the Spiral pathway reappears on the ground before you. Now the Light radiating from your core illuminates the path back to the ancient stone archway.  As you move back through the magical portal, and leave this Sacred Space, know you are a cherished Light in this world..

Astrological Activity for December and January

December 20 – March 10 2010. Mars retrograde in Leo
Life can seem to be moving in slow motion during Mars Retrograde so take care not to push.  Keep your energy in balance.  Use this time as an opportunity to practice patience, focus on completing long-term projects, and schedule time for rest!

December 26 – January 15, 2010 Mercury retrograde in Capricorn
Mercury retrograde in Capricorn presents another wonderful opportunity to slow down, re-experience something that was not recognized or honored, and turn around a missed opportunity.

December 31 – The 13th Full moon of 2009 in the sign of Cancer.
Blue Moon. Traditionally, a Blue Moon was the 4th full moon in a season.  Each of the 4 seasons of the year has 3 months, and will usually have 3 full moons. Each of these 12 moons has a name like “Harvest Moon,” “Hunter’s Moon” etc.  But when a season occurs that contains 4 full moons, there is no name for this occasional moon and it was given the name, “Blue Moon”.  This is the origin of the expression “Once in a Blue Moon “  that we use metaphorically to describe a rare event.  A Blue Moon on New Year’s Eve happens about every 20 years.

Also on this date with the New Year’s Eve celebrations, we experience the 6th partial Lunar eclipse of 2009.  Here’s to a feminine and nurturing 2010.

January 13 – May 30, 2010  Saturn retrograde in Libra and Virgo
Saturn retrograde is a great time to schedule a reading to look at your relationships and social contracts.

January 15 – Solar eclipse in Capricorn

January 15 – New Moon
December 31 & January 30 – Full Moons

Psychic Chris Donovan Newsletter

By Chris · Comments (0)
Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Welcome,
In this amazing time of cleansing and transformation, I believe it is imperative that each of us honor and respect the consciousness of the Earth, and bring our personal dreams, choices and ambitions into a stronger alignment with Nature’s evolutionary process.

This issue is the first of a new series of 8 messages called “Seasonal Wisdom” for the 2009-2010 year.  The framework and timing of this series is based on the Celtic calendar of 4 seasonal celebrations ( Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh), 4 solar events (Winter Solstice, Summer Solstice, Spring Equinox, Vernal equinox) and Astrological activity.  The Celtic calendar format is intended to support each soul in developing a deeper partnership in the grand dance with Nature.  The ancient wisdom encourages and inspires us to remember our natural flow, to honor and observe the rhythms, insights and opportunities each season offers, and to make quality choices that are in sync with the Divine.

Celtic Festival of Samhain

We begin at this time with the festival of Samhain ( pronounced ‘sow’inn’) celebrated on the eve of Oct 31, marking the Celtic New Year and the beginning of Winter, the dark half of the year. All life germinates first in darkness. The darker, shorter and colder days are a fine time to harvest the growth and wisdom we have experienced in our lives this past year and to prepare, to turn inward, and consider what seeds we will plant and nurture for new growth to emerge in our lives in the Spring. Samhain is a supernatural time, when the gateways to the otherworld are open allowing the Spirits of Ancestors, Gods, Goddesses and the Faeries to move among us and communicate to us their knowledge wisdom and memory of ancient times. The modern festival of Hallowe’en, All Saints Eve, derives from Samhain.

From your heart and soul radiate Light and Love to your Ancestor and feel it returning back to you, continually moving in an infinity pattern (∞) called a Lemniscate.

Astrological Activity for November & December 2009

Neptune and Uranus
Neptune, planet of our sleep dreams and meditations, goes direct in the visionary sign of Aquarius on Nov 4.  This energy can support you during the beginning of this Winter season to deepen your experiences of rest and to turn inward to the “world behind your eyes” for introspection and reflection.

Uranus, planet of independence and personal freedom goes direct in the mystical sign of Pisces on Dec 1. This reawakened rebellious energy can provide breakthrough opportunities and insights into what new seeds we desire to plant in our quest for greater wisdom and fulfillment.

Mars and Mercury
Mars, the warrior planet of action, will Retrograde in dramatic Leo on Dec 20, 2009 – March 10, 2010.  During Mars Retrograde, watch for impatience, inertia, tension, loss of enthusiasm and frustration.

Schedule a call or session to explore the area of your chart where Mars will be Retrograde to consciously prepare for this time. For these 81 days,  I recommend finding a balance between action (that is in alignment with this season such as completing long-term projects) and scheduling time for rest each day.

Mercury, the planet of communication, goes retrograde again for the 4th time this year on Dec 26 2009 – Jan 15, 2010 in ambitious Capricorn.  This reversal always presents a wonderful opportunity to review our thoughts and conversations or to re-experience something that was not recognized or honored in our past.

During this Mercury Retrograde I am offering specific sessions that will hold the focus of identifying where this will be happening in your chart and what missed opportunities can be re-created with different choices and outcomes.

New Moons Nov.16 and Dec 16

Full Moons Nov. 2, Dec. 2, and Dec 31
